Birthday Cake

I made this cake for my student ward's Relief Society birthday party.
They wanted fun and bright and didn't care what I did so I just had some fun.
It was hard to do it in my little college apartment, but I was able to learn some new things, it was great.
Here's a view at the party.
Happy flowers.

Misty's Wedding Cake

This cake was for a friend of mine from high school.  It was a beautiful backyard reception.
She wanted the bottom layer as cereal treats and the top as cake.
I put some white on white accents because she wanted a simple cake.
We put some gerbera daisies for a pop of color, her colors were pink, black, and white.
It was so fun to do this cake, I loved it!

Happy Birthday

This is the birthday cake I made for my Aunt Shelly.  Her birthday is July 2 so we had to make a festive cake.
I tried really hard to get the fondant red but it's really hard haha.  I learned to just buy red fondant instead of knead forever to get a dark pink.
This is at our cabin at Bear Lake.

Chelese's Cake January 2010

My cute cousin Chelese's wedding cake.  I worked for weeks on the gumpaste flowers.  Her wedding was the first week of school so it was a little crazy.
It was so fun to make a cake different from anything I had done before.  Again they didn't want to serve the cake so only the bottom was actual cake and the top two were styrofoam.
 Here's a side shot.
The bottom tier was white almond cake with almond buttercream frosting.  I loved making this cake for her.  Fortunately I got these pictures before the little kids came by and touched the flowers and broke many of them.

October 2009

Another trusting roommate Heidi allowed me to do her wedding cake.  This cake, was all cake.
This cake was definitely very fun, and very interesting.  Heidi wanted red velvet cake with 10" rounds and a square middle.  Having only one 10" round cake pan at the time, I made over 12 batches of red velvet cake, one cake at a time.  I bought out the store of red food coloring and had to go to another to finish.
This cake was also very fun because I got to hand paint the design on each cake and since the bride wasn't picky, I got to be creative on what I did.
The interesting part of this cake is that I had to drive it from my little college apartment in Logan to Firth, Idaho where the reception was.  I recruited my roommate Audrey and my friend Megan next door to help me drive the five separate cakes in my little Honda Civic to Idaho.  6 Hours and my first speeding ticket later, the cake had been delivered and she loved it.  It turned out really well and I was so happy she let me make a cake for her special day.  Love you Heidi!

My First Wedding Cake

                                                           My roommate Laura let me
make her wedding cake, she was very
brave because I had never done any
thing like this before.  Thanks Laura!
This is another shot.  She had me only do the top layer as cake because they weren't going to serve it.  The other two were styrofoam.  I was living at Bear Lake at the time and had to drive through the canyon to Logan to deliver it, that was quite an adventure.  Luckily I had help from my friend Ally or else it wouldn't have made it!  I have learned a lot about transporting since then.

My First Blog!

Hey everyone!  This is my first blog.  I've been meaning to do this for a long time and now I finally have.  I love making cakes and pretty much any dessert.  I have made a few wedding and special occasion cakes and I can't wait to do more.  I hope to make it a small business to operate out of my home.  My dream would be to make cakes and be able to stay home with my kids when I have them someday.

I love everything about cakes, beginning to end.  I love designing, planning, baking, decorating, and especially when I see how the bride or whomever ordered the cake sees it for the first time.  I love hearing the reactions of how they like the taste and how it compares to what they wanted.  I would love to do anything you would like for your next occasion from cupcakes and cookies, brownies and bars, to cakes and eclairs, pretty much anything you can think of.

I still consider myself a beginner, and as such, I try to keep my pricing reasonable and affordable.  I know, especially with the times that no one wants to spend a small fortune on a dessert buffet or a wedding cake that will be devoured by the end of the night.  That being said, I am a poor newlywed myself and do need to make some money, my husband likes to remind me of that haha.

Well, that's all I've got for now.  I'd love to hear your feedback, suggestions, or needs for an upcoming event.  I am excited to see where this road in my life will take me.
